Welcome to the Surry Sonker Trail, showcasing a unique dessert in Surry County, North Carolina. Surry County is said to be the only place where this delicacy is made.

Sonker is part of the fabric of life in our region. Family recipes have been passed down for generations, and we celebrate this delicious treat with an annual Sonker Festival held the first Saturday in October since 1980.

You, too, can experience this local delicacy via the Surry Sonker Trail.

The Sonker Trail goes to seven places countywide that offer this authentic Southern delicacy on their regular menu.

The seven eateries include: two bakeries, two general stores, a winery restaurant, a casual American eatery/bar and a restaurant featuring upscale Southern comfort food.

Let us introduce your taste buds to something new. Along the way, you'll encounter several charming towns in the heart of North Carolina's Yadkin Valley.

Trail locations are within 40 minutes of each other in the following towns: Elkin, Mount Airy, Dobson and the Village of Rockford.
